Role Preparation
Deep musical preparation for a role.
Service Description
Go deeper into the character — without losing your technique. Preparing a role is a deep exploration of singing and acting as one. We work on the character from the inside out: exploring their emotional world, motivations, relationships, physicality, and musical language, while making sure the technical demands of the role remain secure. The aim is to build a truthful and fully developed character before entering the rehearsal process. At the same time, preparation should never close you off. We work on arriving at rehearsals with a strong artistic foundation while remaining open, flexible, and responsive to the director and the collaborative process. We can explore: - Character development - Acting through the music - Text and interpretation - Connecting technical choices to character - Physicality and presence - Musical and dramatic intentions - Preparing before the rehearsal process - Remaining flexible within a director's vision Best for: Singers preparing an opera, musical theatre, or other performance role. I generally recommend 3 sessions per role, depending on the scale of the role, the repertoire, and the time available for preparation. You can always get in touch for a consultation first. We’ll discuss where you are in your preparation and decide together what kind of support and how many sessions would be right for you.
