Teatro Alla Scala "Trittico Weill" - Kurt Weill
Project type
Opera
Date
202
In short:
The opportunity to reduce orchestral numbers and stage settings, prompted by the ongoing pandemic, led in 2021 to the creation of a small musical-theatrical gem: Riccardo Chailly's two-part production of Kurt Weill, directed by Irina Brook. Brook reinterpreted Bertolt Brecht's abrasive social criticism from an environmentalist perspective, inventing a pared-down set made from discarded materials and a sea of plastic bottles. The two-part production of Die sieben Todsünden and Mahagonny Songspiel becomes a triptych with the addition of a new production of The Songs of Happy End , adding "Surabaya Johnny" to the famous pieces that will be heard that evening (including "Alabama-Song").
An introductory lecture on the opera, given by Fabio Sartorelli, will be held one hour before the start of each performance in the Ridotto dei Palchi “A. Toscanini”.
